In this page I want to tell the reason I created this website.
It was 1979, I was a young high school student, when my brother Giuseppe brought home an audio cassette in which he recorded the first two Dire Straits’ LPs.
I was studying in the kitchen with my schoolmate Marco, when suddenly the sound of a music I never heard before came from the other room. Marco and I, looked at each other, curious about the sound of that guitar: warm and engaging but we had to study and we did not get distracted further.
We went on to study our Latin lesson with that song in the background. After a few minutes of silence we again heard the sound of that guitar, a song that echoed a western movie set, again Marco and I looked at each other, we closed the books and went into my brother's room to ask who was playing those songs: this is how I “met” Dire Straits!
Since that moment Dire Straits became the soundtrack of my life.
Mark Knopfler has certainly been and is one of the few or perhaps the only guitarist who brings out the sound of the soul from his guitars and often the lyrics of his songs make you believe that he understood you without knowing you.
